You can use any number of computational photography tricks or various photo and video software “enhancers”, but no one canceled the laws of physics – all things being equal, the more the image sensor is used in the camera, the greater the photo quality, especially in low light conditions. The photo below gives a clear idea of how much the sensors used in modern flagship smartphones differ in size. Despite the fact that on paper, its characteristics may be close.
On the left is the Sony IMX689 image sensor used in the OnePlus 9, and on the right is the Samsung ISOCELL GN2 sensor used in the Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra. On paper, the difference in resolution and optical format does not seem significant: 48 megapixels and 1 / 1.43 “in the first case and 50 megapixels and 1 / 1.12” in the second. But in reality, the Samsung ISOCELL GN2 is much larger, and of course it is capable of providing a better image than sensors of a smaller optical format.
