Allogloom Brings Hand-Painted Mystery Adventure to Steam on October 13

Date:

Allogloom, a hand-painted point-and-click mystery adventure from solo developer Kate, working under the Galactic Ghosty label, will launch for PC via Steam on Oct. 13, 2026. Published by Iceberg Interactive, the game combines cozy exploration and puzzle-solving with macabre imagery, dark humor and an underlying sense of horror.

Set in the mysterious Gruesome Grove, Allogloom follows protagonist Nora as she investigates the disappearance of the town’s residents. What begins as an investigation into a seemingly abandoned community gradually expands into a mystery involving monsters, hidden histories and six interconnected worlds.

Allogloom Mixes Cozy Exploration With Creeping Horror

The adventure unfolds across eight chapters, with players exploring hand-painted streets, buildings and hidden locations while searching for clues about what happened to Gruesome Grove.

Players will collect and combine items, investigate unusual relics and interact with a cast of peculiar characters and creatures. The game’s puzzles are tied directly to its story, inhabitants and history, placing an emphasis on observation and curiosity rather than repeated trial and error.

While its artwork and characters create a whimsical appearance, the game incorporates darker elements as Nora discovers more about the town’s past.

The developers describe the experience as a combination of character-focused exploration and creeping dread, with unsettling discoveries appearing beneath the game’s more colorful and inviting presentation.

Eight Chapters Span Six Interconnected Worlds

The mystery extends beyond Gruesome Grove into six connected worlds, each contributing new information about the disappearances and the forces behind them.

Throughout the eight-chapter storyline, players will uncover long-hidden details about the town and gradually learn the truth about the monsters connected to its missing residents.

Meaningful interactions are another part of the gameplay. Players may need to negotiate with characters, combine objects or investigate strange artifacts to overcome obstacles and move forward.

The entire visual world has been hand-painted, with backgrounds, characters and creatures created from scratch by Kate.

Free Allogloom Demo Available Ahead of Release

Players interested in trying the game before its October launch can currently access a free demo on Steam.

Early players have highlighted the game’s visual presentation, storytelling and combination of whimsical and unsettling themes.

“The developer’s direction, world-building and storytelling is incredible even in this little demo. As someone who absolutely loved the game Fran Bow, I thought I’d never play a Point & Click that matches its unsettling, mysterious and whimsical feeling, this game surpasses that!” one Steam user wrote.

Another player pointed to the contrast between the game’s inviting atmosphere and darker moments.

“The alternate reality, its lore and art style felt very original. Just when it started to feel comfortable, the gore and the WTF moments set in… I’m hooked.”

A third Steam review praised the demo’s ability to draw the player into its story.

“This game is beautiful 1236785481/10. I can’t wait to play it in full. NGL I kind of forgot I was playing a demo because I was so invested and now feel cliffhangered. I need it.”

Solo Developer Kate Builds Gruesome Grove by Hand

Allogloom is being developed primarily by Kate through Galactic Ghosty, her independent development label.

Inspired by a long-standing interest in mystery games, Kate taught herself illustration, game design, writing and animation while developing the project, with additional support from a small group of collaborators.

The game is being published by Iceberg Interactive, an independent publisher founded in 2009 and based in the Netherlands. Its catalog includes Strange Horticulture, Strange Antiquities, the Killing Floor series, Chivalry 2 and Blazing Sails.

Mystery and Observation Drive the Adventure

At the center of Allogloom is Nora’s effort to understand what happened to the people of her hometown and uncover the forgotten truths behind Gruesome Grove.

The game’s combination of hand-painted environments, lore-driven puzzles and darker supernatural themes places it within a growing group of narrative-focused independent games that blend traditionally cozy mechanics with horror.

Allogloom launches on Steam for PC on Oct. 13, 2026. With its free demo already available, players can explore part of Gruesome Grove before the complete eight-chapter mystery arrives in time for the Halloween season.
