New York City will host the inaugural New York Games Week from Oct. 4-11, 2026, bringing together video game developers, industry professionals, creators and fans for a citywide series of conferences, showcases, tournaments and networking events.
The week-long initiative is designed to strengthen New York’s position as a destination for the global video game industry while connecting international companies and professionals with the city’s growing gaming community.
Gaming Events Planned Across New York City’s Five Boroughs
New York Games Week will feature events throughout the five boroughs, ranging from professional summits and industry mixers to exhibitions, competitions and community meetups.
Organizers are partnering with established gaming, entertainment and industry organizations that will host their own programming as part of the broader celebration.
Among the confirmed events is New York Comic Con, one of the East Coast’s largest pop culture conventions, which attracts more than 250,000 attendees. The schedule will also include independent gaming exhibition Game-A-Palooza and the world’s first in-person Fashion in Gaming Awards.
Women in Games and Game Devs of Color are also collaborating on programming during the week.
VGAmatuers will open the festivities with a two-hour digital showcase streamed on Twitch, YouTube and TikTok. The program will highlight game developers and feature trailers, announcements, reveals and short interviews.
Organizers said New York Games Week will include another 25 activities and events around the city, with additional programming expected to be announced.
New York Officials Highlight Gaming Industry Growth
The launch comes as city officials seek to expand New York’s role in the video game and interactive entertainment sectors. Beyond consumer entertainment, the industry supports developers, designers, artists, programmers, marketers and other creative and technology-focused jobs.
“The digital games industry in NYC is growing at an incredible rate, generating millions in economic activity and supporting thousands of jobs for New Yorkers,” said Commissioner Rafael Espinal of the NYC Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment. “We’re proud to support this inaugural celebration which will serve to shine an even bigger light on New York City to be a leading global hub for the industry in the years and decades to come.”
The New York City Economic Development Corporation is also supporting the initiative.

Industry Veterans Lead New York Games Week
New York Games Week is being spearheaded by gaming industry professionals with experience organizing events and supporting game development communities.
The leadership includes Guy Blomberg of Games Industry Gathering, Krysti Pryde of PlayNYC and Amit Hossain of IGDA NYC.
Their involvement brings together several parts of New York’s existing gaming ecosystem at a time when cities around the world are competing to attract creative technology companies, skilled developers and investment in interactive entertainment.
New York Aims to Build a Global Gaming Destination
The inaugural event will combine large-scale entertainment gatherings with smaller professional and community-focused programs, giving developers, students, established companies and independent creators opportunities to connect.
New York’s established technology, media, advertising, fashion and entertainment sectors could also provide opportunities for collaboration as gaming increasingly intersects with other creative industries.
With New York Comic Con and dozens of additional activities forming part of the inaugural schedule, New York Games Week is positioned as a citywide effort rather than a single convention.
The first New York Games Week will run Oct. 4 through Oct. 11, with further events and programming expected to be announced as organizers finalize the 2026 schedule.
